Interview with AdY

de Sandu 'SpyGun' D.
Saturday, 14.04.2007, 23:40:38

Note: The interview was taken by SpyGun before the latest roster changes in 4Kings and before the NGL One finals to take place.

To start off the interview, please tell us something about yourself, your name, age, where you live and what version of cs you started in and which version was your favorite.

Hey! I`m Adam Brown, 18 from liverpool, England and i started way back in beta 3 with some friends before i even had my own PC and i think i have to say 1.5 was my favourite because that was when i really started to play properly!

We all know you from the wellknown 4Kings and after some really nice lans where u offered a great teamplay with ur clan. What happened those months ?

I think when i first joined 4Kings it was going really well, we bootcamped before ESWC and WSVG summer and we were pretty well prepared, but i think we got really unlucky at ESWC having a really tough group but we showed how good we were at WSVG beating lots of good teams. But after that, it all kind of went downhill, after a bad placing at WSVG UK, Mangiacapra left the team and recently DaY left for mYm and natu for N69.

But before you joined 4Kings, at what teams had you performed? Your history...

I was in alot of different UK teams, namely imminent/xtra, lastchance and =WOLF= who managed to beat 4K at ESWC quals 2005 !

Tell us about your gaming style? What is your favorite player?

My style in cs is definitely very aggressive, i like to peek alot and get the picks, im not a sneaky player, i prefer to rush instead of playing slow and i have to say i dont really have a favourite player at this moment, there are so many good players around these days.

Do you sometimes feel too much obsession for cs? How that the game influenced your normal life?

I think it`s the same for alot of people, i think it has taken over a big part of my life but i`m still at college so i`m trying not to let it influence it completely.

Do you have any favourite elements in your CFG?

I just use default !

What is your next event? Which are your objectives and who seems to be the hardest enemy you`ll face there?

The next event is NGL where we will take quark and striker as they helped us qualify online and after that we will see how it goes, we have to face NoA, SK and fnatic so to choose the hardest between those 3 is almost impossible.

What do you think is more important in a clan, the individual skill or the team work?

It has to be a mixture of both, i think in every top team nowadays nearly every player has alot of individual skill, so teamplay is really important.

Which is your favourite weapon and/or which is the weapon that shows your best?

I think i`m equally as good with ak/colt so i dont really have a preference.

What do you prefer, LAN or Internet?

LAN for sure!

Which was for you the most difficult match of your life ?

I think my first event with 4K at ESWC, where we played Lunatic-hai, i had a really horrible game and i was getting outaimed left, right and centre, that was probably the most difficult game i have ever played!

Which are your sponsors?

Our main sponsors are Intel and SteelSeries, who provide us with huge backing to attend nearly every event possible!

How do you see the future of CS ? You know that someone said there is the possibility to follow the CPL matches over TV in a near future? Do you think that it will be the next "football"?

Well, CS has progressed pretty fast in a very short space of time, football has been alive for over a hundred years so we`ll just have to wait and see what happens.

The best operating system for a gamer is... ?

Hmm, i guess XP is ! Not really sure ;)

How does your clan manage the minutes / hours / days before a match?

We usually start around 18:00 and finish around 22:00 so we get 2/3/4 praccs in.

Does your team spend much time scouting other teams before you play them? And are the changes you`re making partially to protect you from being scouted by other teams?

For official matches and online and especially at lans, we usually download a recent demo of the team and watch it just to see what they tend to do and how they like to play and then maybe anti-strat them!

From where does the nick "AdY" come from?

It`s just a nickname i had at school.. short for Adam i guess, nothing special.

In your opinion, is luck important in Counter-Strike? What percentage of success in Counter-Strike can be attributed to it?

Yes definitely, especially now when alot of teams are really equally skilled, different games depend alot on timing and different situations going in the favour of one team rather than the other.

What about understanding of maps?

I think you have to understand each map very well and understand all the best angles because positioning is very important!

Which do you think is the biggest difference between a Counter-Strike star player and a normal player?

I think the star players make the big plays at the most important times, people like f0rest constantly get huge 3 man takedowns every game.

Which team has impressed you the most from playing against them?

I think Pentagram really impressed me as they used to be a "nearly" team, i think they were always rated as a decent team but last year they really stepped it up and are now probably top 3 in the world.

In your opinion, what are fundamental qualifications of a potential Counter-Strike talent?

I think for an up and coming player, he just have to have a lot of dedication and be just willing to play alot to get to the top!

What's your gaming resolution?

640x480

What's your sensitivity?

3.5

What's your mouse?

The new MS 3.0

What's your mousepad?

S&S

Do you use dynamiccrosshair?

No.

Final words?

Shoutout to our sponsors Intel and SteelSeries and i hope everyone will keep supporting us!
