WCG Romania 2006 Coverage

The World Cyber Games is with no doubt, one of the most expected events of the year. With qualifiers being held all over the world, this week is time for our country to decide who is the best to represent Romania in Monza.

General Information

Date: 28th September - 1 October
Location: Bucharest, Romexpo - Pavilion 2 (Marasti Boulevard nr. 65-67)
Computers Used: CPU AMD, Graphics Card Nvidia GeForce Go 7700, 1GB RAM, Samsung 920N Monitors (over 100 computers)
Qualifiers: WCG Qualifiers for Counter-Strike 1.6 (one team), FIFA2006 (two players) and Need For Speed: Most Wanted (one player)
Other Events: Tournaments for Counter-Strike 1.6 Female, WarCraft3, DotA, PGL Mobile

WCG Romania: CS Qualifier

48 teams will take part at this qualifier, and will try to win the ticket for the WCG2006 Finals. To make the competition even interesting, the organisers decided to offer prizes for the first eight teams, as it follows:

1st place - Ticket for WCG 2006 Monza +5 knapsacks
2nd place - 5 X Casca Plantronics DSP 500 +5 knapsacks
3rd place - 5 X Athlon 64 3200+ (939pin) Processor Venice CPU +5 knapsacks
4th place - 5 X Razer Copperhead mice
5th place - 5 X D-Link XDI-524 router
6th place - 5 X Altec Lansing AHS423 headset
7th place - 5 X Altec Lansing AHS423 headset
8th place - 5 X Altec Lansing AHS423 headset

The qualifier will start in a group stage format, with 44 teams divided into 11 groups, the first two of each group advancing to the next stage. The best four seeded teams will go directly in the double elimination phase, without having to play in the groups. These teams are: TeG, IGG, snc and vop.
